"Grandma's Mirror"

This is a portrait from 2009.

I was visiting Anne O. while her 3-year old grandson Maddox was there. I had come to photograph Anne’s 18-year-old granddaughter Paige for a portrait. When Maddie picked up his grandma’s hand-mirror and started playing with it, I began snapping photos of him too.

Maddie was vigorously turning the mirror every which way, and just for a split second he turned it past the spot where his eyes met mine in the mirror....and his face lit up. I ended up using that shot to create this portrait, “Grandma’s Mirror”.
