In honor of Fall, I’d like to share my watercolor, “Autumn River”. The original painting was displayed at the 1992 Doberman Pinscher Club of America National, and sold very quickly. After that it was not seen again publicly until 2020 when I shared it on my Facebook page on the first day of Fall.
A 12 x 19 inch Fine Art print of this painting is now available.
This painting is my beautiful Jake (Roeckl’s Black Jake BH WAC CGC Therapy Dog, 1985-1997 ). Jake loved “fishing” more than anything else. It was a sport Jake discovered when he was young, and he engaged in it at every opportunity. Every pond, stream, lake, river, and tide-pool we visited, he spent hours stalking the elusive little fish….tiptoeing lightly to not scare them, intently scanning the water, and when he had one, pounce! He would dive under clear up to his chest.
Fishing not only made Jake’s heart sing, it made mine sing as well. The poetic beauty of a magnificent Doberman dancing through the water, with his sleek coat shining, muscles rippling, and his reflection mimicking every graceful movement....
