Autumn - "Autumn Angel"

šŸ In honor of Fall, my favorite season, Iā€™m sharing autumn artworks from my 40-year career.

ā€œAutumn Angelā€.... the angel that spreads autumn color across the landscape. This was created in the late 1990s when I did a whole series of angels.Ā

Colored pencil drawing of a nude young child with angel wings splashing her hands in a river with bright autumn colors reflected in the ripples, on dark green paper.

I love the way the red and orange pencils look on this dark green paper. Pencil strokes are great for doing ripples on water. And I love the pale colors of the little angelā€™s skin on that dark green. Skin colors are more challenging to do on dark green than on a warmer paper color - difficult to completely cover the tooth of the dark green paper and blend them smoothly - but really beautiful the way they look against that color.Ā

Collection of Laurel Kempe, mother of the little girl who modeled for this artwork.
